What gives you confidence about how Rochester businesses and institutions are addressing environmental challenges?
The city of Rochester is taking a leading role in improving our areas’ environmental status. They tie environmental factors into each project they embark on. Our corporate neighbors and partners follow this lead and work to embrace these goals. To name a few, progress can be seen in the Inner Loop project and ROC the Riverway. On a smaller scale, but no less important, is the work being done to upgrade the area parks.
What advice would you offer to individuals or organizations that want to start making a measurable environmental difference?
It doesn’t have to be complicated. Gather input from your entire team (some of the ideas may surprise you), democratically vote on a realistic number of initiatives, then set goals and benchmarks. Tie the goals to weekly messaging to keep the initiative top of mind.
What’s your favorite way to enjoy the natural beauty of the Rochester area?
Picking a favorite way to enjoy Rochester’s beauty is a tough one. The river offers beautiful and ever-changing views as does Lake Ontario. The parks and green spaces offer a place to take a moment to unwind and refresh. There are so many hidden gems in our area, everyone should make it a goal to discover new ones and find their personal favorite.
