Gannett to shutter D&C printing facility; 108 jobs to be lost (access required)

When Gannett closes the printing facility at Canal Ponds, 58 full-time and 51 part-time employees will lose their jobs (photo by Kevin Oklobzija).

The Canal Ponds press prints Gannett papers from seven other New York communities as well: Binghamton, Canandaigua, Corning, Elmira, Hornell, Ithaca and Utica. They also will be printed at a facility Rockaway, N.J. Other non-Gannett newspapers also contract with the facility for printing services, meaning they must find a new home.
