New dean to lead RIT’s College of Health Sciences and Technology

Hassan Aziz has been appointed dean of the Rochester Institute of Technology College of and Technology following a national search. 

Aziz currently serves as dean and professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and will begin his new role at RIT on Aug. 1. 

A Fellow of the Association of Clinical Scientists, Aziz brings extensive experience in , research and . He is president-elect of the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science and previously served as president of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science. 

Throughout his career, Aziz has held academic and leadership positions at institutions including University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Qatar University and Georgia Southern University. 

Aziz has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, secured multiple research grants and delivered presentations worldwide on laboratory medicine, personalized medicine, health informatics and healthcare leadership. 

“Hassan’s career is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and passion for improving healthcare outcomes through education, research and clinical excellence,” said Prabu David, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at RIT. 

Aziz holds a doctorate in science education and a master’s degree in from The University of Southern Mississippi.
