Rochester’s WHEC expanding midday local news to one hour

WHEC News 10 logo Channel 10 is adding another 30 minutes of live, local midday news to its weekday schedule.

The will expand the Noon News from 30 minutes to one hour, beginning Sept. 29.

The expanded local broadcast will create a full two-hour midday local/national news block, with the hour-long NBC News Daily beginning at 1 p.m.

By adding the additional 30-minute news slot, the station now will have seven hours of live news broadcasts (4:30 a.m.-7 a.m., noon-1 p.m., 4 p.m.-6:30 p.m., 7 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.-11:30 p.m.).

“This expansion further establishes our leadership, producing more hours of local broadcast TV news than any other Rochester TV station,” Richard Reingold, WHEC general manager, said in a news release. “We’re proud to deepen our commitment to the community by delivering even more of the trusted journalism Rochester relies on.”

The extended noon newscast is also available on WHEC.com, the mobile app and the News10+ streaming app.
