Chief Executive Officer, Arc GLOW

Years in current role: 10

What emerging trends or technologies do you think will have the biggest impact on health care in the next 12 months?

Artificial intelligence is becoming a real game changer, particularly when it comes to supporting independence in people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). I’m especially excited about smart reminder systems and assistive technologies that help individuals navigate daily routines with more confidence. These tools aren’t just convenient; they can dramatically improve someone’s quality of life. Seeing that kind of impact is incredibly motivating.

What’s one lesson the past few years have taught you about resilience or innovation in health care?

That no one moves forward alone. Some of the most meaningful progress I’ve been part of came from listening to others, sharing experiences and working together toward a common goal. Collaboration isn’t just helpful; it’s essential. It keeps you grounded, sharpens your perspective and strengthens advocacy.

What skills or qualities do you think are essential for the next generation of health care leaders?

You need to lead with heart but, also have the grit to navigate complex systems and make tough decisions. A strong sense of mission is key but so is understanding the operational side, such as budgeting, staffing and sustainability. Leaders who can blend empathy with strategic thinking will drive the most lasting impact.

How do you stay motivated and inspired in such a demanding and evolving field?

I’m someone who thrives on variety, and in this field, every day is different. There’s always a new challenge, a new need to meet or a new idea to explore. I love creative problem-solving, and that’s something health care and, especially, human services demand daily. I’m fortunate to have a supportive Board, team, and family.

What’s your favorite way to unwind or recharge outside of work?

Trail running or biking is how I reset. Getting outdoors, away from screens, and just moving clears my head. It gives me space to reflect and reconnect after a busy day. It’s become a vital part of how I stay balanced and ready to face whatever comes next.
