NYS’s new MWBE Hub will provide streamlined access to info, contracts

New York State has launched a mobile-friendly online platform that will make it easier for Minority and Women owned Business Enterprises to gain certification and connect to .

The Empire State MWBE Hub will modernize key operations in the program, streamlining certification and allowing businesses to manage applications and receive assistance.

Developed by ‘s Division of Minority and Women’s Business Development, the hub is a flexible, cloud-based platform designed to support the expanding scale and complexity of the MWBE program.

The previous program was implemented more than a year ago.

A focus of Gov. ‘s administration has been the expansion of economic opportunities for MWBEs.

“The Empire State MWBE Hub builds on that commitment by giving businesses a modern, more accessible path to certification and state contracting opportunities,” Hochul said in a news release. “We are continuing to break down barriers so more MWBE’s can compete, grow, create jobs and contribute to communities across our state.”

Compliance-related functions will remain in the existing platform, with the certified MWBE directory serving as a connection between the two systems.

“A truly inclusive procurement system must be accessible, transparent and responsive to the businesses it is intended to serve,” said , the state’s chief diversity officer. “The Empire State MWBE Hub will give entrepreneurs clearer information, greater visibility into the certification process and more direct access to assistance when they need it.”
