What emerging trends or technologies do you think will have the biggest impact on health care in the next 12 months?
All technologies that ultimately provide health care outside the four walls of any office. While AI is part of this, it is not the only driver, remote health monitoring and remote health access (telehealth) will be critical to expanding the reach of care, driving effectiveness (more patients seen) and efficiencies (lowering cost of care).
What’s one lesson the past few years have taught you about resilience or innovation in health care?
It is always about the people. And because of the commitment of our health care workers, we withstood a global pandemic. One in which the standard of care, and its delivery, needed to pivot immediately. While technology played the role of enablement, it does not happen without the commitment and resilience of those that deliver the care. We must be really careful not to lose sight of this.
What’s your favorite way to unwind or recharge outside of work?
Anything to do with water! I love our Finger Lakes and all they have to offer. I love our Lake Ontario and am always in awe of its enormity. I grew up going to the shore, so any chance I get to put my feet in the sand and ocean is a really good day. Being by the water relaxes me, slows me down, and if there is ball game to listen to as well, that is a big bonus!
