What emerging trends or technologies do you think will have the biggest impact on health care in the next 12 months?

Over the next year, we’re continuing to invest in new tools, partnerships and technology to make health care more personalized, convenient, and accessible for everyone. When you’re sick or injured, you should always be in contact with your doctor first — they know you best. But when they’re not available, our MDLive telemedicine virtual care option helps connect our members with access to medical and behavioral health professionals 24/7.  We’re also expanding access to virtual cardiac rehab, and physical therapy for musculoskeletal issues. Another focus of ours is around cancer care and working with a team of specialists to help make cancer treatment more efficient and affordable. Through new technology and predictive analytics, we’re helping identify at-risk individuals earlier and connecting them with the care they need to live healthier more secure lives. At the end of the day, it’s about giving people the tools and support they need to live healthier lives. Whether it’s through new technology, strategic partnerships or smarter data, we’re focused on making sure our members get the right care, at the right time, in the way that works best for them.

What skills or qualities do you think are essential for the next generation of health care leaders?

The next generation of health care leaders must be adaptable, mission-driven and deeply collaborative. They need to understand how to lead through change — balancing innovation with compassion — and use data and technology to improve care while never losing sight of the human side of health. A strong commitment to equity and building relationships in the community is also essential. Leaders must be able to listen, build trust and create solutions that serve diverse populations and improve outcomes for all.

How do you stay motivated and inspired in such a demanding and evolving field?

What keeps me motivated is our mission — to help people live healthier, more secure lives. Knowing that our work directly impacts the well-being of individuals, families and entire communities is incredibly inspiring. I’m also energized by the passion of our employees and the strength of our community partnerships. In a field as demanding as health care, staying focused on purpose — and the people we serve — reminds me every day why this work matters.
