President & CEO, Lifetime Assistance
Years in current role: 3
What emerging trends or technologies do you think will have the biggest impact on health care in the next 12 months?
One of the most significant impacts on health care in the next 12-18 months will stem from the approximately $800 billion in Medicaid budget cuts. The reductions in federal and state dollars will impact access to essential services for vulnerable populations, including individuals with disabilities.
What skills or qualities do you think are essential for the next generation of health care leaders?
As health care continues to evolve, the most essential qualities for future leaders will be interpersonal and team-building skills. The ability to build trust, communicate with empathy, and foster strong, collaborative teams is more important than ever. Leaders must not only understand systems and strategy, but also listen, connect and inspire others through change.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in such a demanding and evolving field?
What keeps me motivated is the mission of this agency, our team members, families and individuals we support. Visiting our programs on a weekly basis and seeing firsthand the joy, progress and resilience of those we serve is the most powerful reminder of why we do this work. These weekly visits keep me focused on the importance of the work and incredible impact Lifetime Assistance has on the community.
What’s your favorite way to unwind or recharge outside of work?
My favorite way to recharge outside of work is by spending time with my wife and kids and supporting them in sports and other endeavors. I really enjoy running and hiking — being active outside helps me reset and stay balanced.
