Quicklee’s seeks re-approval from Brighton for East Avenue locale
Quicklee’s, the Avon-based convenience store brand, is preparing to move forward with plans to create a new location on East Avenue near the intersection of Linden and Elmwood avenues in Brighton.
The family-owned company intends to renovate the century-old Tudor-style building at 3108 East Ave., which previously was home to Gordy’s Sunoco 2005 to 2017. The property has been vacant ever since.
The town of Brighton Planning Board on Wednesday is scheduled to discuss and vote on final site plan approval for the facility, which will include installation of a 968-foot canopy and two gas pump islands.
If this sounds familiar, it is. The planning board previously approved the same plans that have been re-submitted. Because there were delays in the start of construction, the approval has expired and the board must again grant its blessing.
Redevelopment of the .358-acre parcel as a Quicklee’s has also already received a zoning variance from the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals as well as a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission.
When the new Quicklee’s opens, hours of operation will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., according to documents filed with the town.
The property sits next door to Brighton Fire Station No. 1.
