Maximus has reduced its workforce at its Pittsford office following the loss of a federal contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Maximus closed its Monroe Avenue location on June 30, according to the WARN notice. The filing reported that 176 local workers were affected.
However, a Maximus spokesperson said the actual number of employees impacted is lower, with many workers having been placed in other positions within the company.
The Monroe Avenue site also remains open to Maximus employees working on other contracts, the spokesperson said.
Maximus provides services to federal, state and local government agencies, including administering public programs, modernizing health care infrastructure and operating customer contact centers.
The company also works with government agencies on health and human services, technology and other public-sector programs.
Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, Maximus has operations in the U.S. as well as Canada, India, the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia.
