Kore Wireless announces more cuts to Pittsford workforce amid economic pressures

Kore Wireless is planning another round of at its site, citing economic challenges.

The Georgia-based business said this week it will lay off 51 of the 77 workers at the Monroe Avenue site on Sept. 30, according to a filed Aug. 18 with the state Department of Labor.   

The 51 jobs cuts include the 17 that were previously reported in a WARN filing in May.

A company spokesperson said KORE continually evaluates its needs globally, and while some operations are being transferred to other KORE locations, there are not yet definitive plans to close the local site.

KORE offers a complete IoT (Internet of Things) strategy for its customers, including end-to-end security, technology, evaluation, selection development, connectivity, and device and data management. 

The local operation, formerly named , was founded in Rochester in 1985. KORE acquired Integron in 2019.   

The business moved from Rochester to its current site as part of a $1.2 million project in early 2022, due to growth in the health care and trucking industries.   

At the time, it was announced that was assisting KORE with the local project, providing up to $400,000 through the Excelsior Jobs Tax Credit Program in exchange for job creation commitments.
