Listen to this articleThe Climate Solutions Accelerator has announced a planned leadership transition, as Executive Director and co-founder Abigail McHugh-Grifa will step down from her role in Spring 2027 following 12 years at the helm.
McHugh-Grifa will remain in her position throughout the transition period, and leadership emphasized that no disruptions to programs, operations or strategic priorities are expected.
“Our commitment to this work remains strong,” said Tracy Schleyer, chair of the board of directors. “This is a deliberate and values-aligned process that gives us time to plan carefully, support continuity and prepare for the organization’s next chapter.”
To guide the effort, the board has formed a transition committee composed of both board and staff members. The group will coordinate the process and provide updates to stakeholders as appropriate.
In a message to the community, McHugh-Grifa reflected on her 12-year tenure and reaffirmed her commitment to advancing climate leadership, movement-building and a regenerative regional economy.
During the transition, she plans to focus on sharing lessons learned, mentoring emerging leaders and helping position the organization for continued success.
Following her departure, McHugh-Grifa intends to complete a book she is currently writing and explore new ways to contribute to a healthier, more equitable and regenerative future for the region.
“This work has been wonderfully transformative and fulfilling,” she said. “We’re still in the early days of co-creating a regenerative regional economy, so we need many leaders working together to build this movement.”
