is laying off 20 percent of its local workforce due to economic reasons.

The Georgia-based business said it will lay off 17 of the 83 workers at its location on July 28, according to a WARN notice filed with the state Department of Labor.

KORE offers a complete IoT (Internet of Things) strategy for its customers, including end-to-end security, technology, evaluation, selection development, connectivity, and device and data management.

The local operation, formerly named Integron, was founded in Rochester in 1985. KORE acquired Integron in 2019.

The business moved from Rochester to the Monroe Avenue site as part of a $1.2 million project in early 2022, due to growth in the health care and trucking industries.

At the time, it was announced that Empire State Development was assisting KORE with the local project, providing up to $400,000 through the Excelsior  Tax Credit Program in exchange for job creation commitments.

The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
