Founded in 1982, Steinmiller Insurance has provided insurance service to thousands of customers in upstate New York.

“Being a women-owned business means that we can show our own daughters and their friends that women can accomplish anything and be leaders in our community,” President Kristen Steinmiller said.

Steinmiller has faced challenges as a woman owner in a male-dominated industry — “it has taken years to try to change that perception” — and takes advantage of the lessons she has learned as part of that process.

“We support women in our business by hiring other women and connecting with other women business owners in our city,” she said. “We understand their challenges and can share ideas and goals.”

Since Steinmiller took over the firm, the client base has more than doubled and the firm continues to exceed its goals.

“We are proud of the way we have grown our business since we became owners 11 years ago,” she said.
