Rochester earns national recognition for senior living excellence

The has named Rochester among the top metropolitan areas in the nation for , with 15 local communities earning “Best Senior Living” distinctions for 2026. 

The recognition reflects strong performance across key quality-of-life metrics, including care services, safety, dining and resident engagement. The annual rankings are based on a comprehensive national survey of residents and their families, conducted on behalf of U.S. News by authorized research partners. 

For its 2026 report, U.S. News evaluated more than 3,000 senior living communities nationwide, measuring satisfaction levels across a range of daily living and care experiences. Communities that received the designation demonstrated consistently high marks from both residents and their loved ones. 

The recognition comes as demographic trends reshape demand for . 

According to U.S. News, by 2030, one in five Americans will be of retirement age — driving increased need for a spectrum of senior living options, from independent living to memory care and assisted services. 

“Whether seeking an active independent lifestyle or specialized care, U.S. News’ 2026 Best Senior Living ratings help families navigate these options by identifying communities where residents and their families reported the highest levels of satisfaction,” said Liz Pearce, director of senior living at U.S. News.
