Founded almost five years ago by Jennifer G. Young, What’s Good offers curated sustainable and socially responsible goods from makers committed to people and planet.

“As a woman-owned business our success serves as a substantial model for other women. ‘If I can do it, she can do it. If she can do it, I can do it!’ Failure is not an option,” Young said. “I am representing and hopefully inspiring other women to join in, follow their dreams to make it happen. Someday, we won’t need a special category to lift women-owned businesses up, we’ll all just be … business owners.”

All What’s Good employees are women, the majority of the company’s 400-plus products come from women-owned/led businesses, and 20 of the company’s local vendors are women-owned. The company has also supported nonprofits that benefit women such as Pink Fund, The Women’s Rights Project, Vital Voices, and Women’s Earth Alliance, and has created community-wide events that support women-owned businesses.

“Not to say it’s been easy, the challenges have been many, but it’s amazing to be face to face with our customers, helping them navigate the complex world of sustainability and to live healthier lives,” Young said. “Being a part of their journey is the best.”
