Since 1989 Seating Inc. has been building high-quality chairs for commercial and government buyers.

“We compete in a male-dominated industry as equals, while creating unique value for our internal team, community, and clients,” President Judy Hart said. “Being woman-owned means understanding that the jobs we create mean better lives for entire families. It means we provide an example to young women about what they can achieve, and it means helping our clients to expand and diversify their supply chain for improved resilience.”

As a small chair manufacturer, being woman-owned allows Seating Inc. to take advantage of New York’s MWBE program.

“It’s important that woman-owned businesses get the chance to be in the room where decisions are made, and to compete,” Hart said. “Not that we need special treatment, just a chance to be the best solution for our clients.”

Seating Inc. has women in leadership roles in production and in marketing/sales, and has a network of women-owned distributors who provide installation and service for seating products.

“For the larger community we stand as an example to women of any age, that they can succeed and thrive even in male dominated industries like manufacturing,” Hart said.
