Two years after purchasing Digital Hyve, Butler/Till is in the process of phasing out the brand and merging all services under one name.
The Syracuse office of Digital Hyve permanently closed at the end of business on Tuesday and all employees will now work remotely, with Butler/Till’s downtown Rochester office serving as the company headquarters.
Butler/Till had operated Digital Hyve as a wholly owned subsidiary since the purchase in June of 2021. But the Hyve brand will be fully merged into Butler/Till to start 2024.
“This business decision was made to provide a broader set of services to all clients more seamlessly, and provide additional opportunities for the Digital Hyve employees who have now become Butler/Till employees,” said Chelsea Salitan, director of marketing for Butler/Till.
Ranked No.1 among marketing communications firms in the 2023 Rochester Business Journal’s Book of Lists, Butler/Till will maintain a commitment to Central New York and continue to attract talent and clients from that region, Salitan said.
Digital Hyve was No. 5 on the list. Founded in Syracuse in 2014 by Jeff Knauss and Jacob Tanner, the firm was a boutique digital marketing firm that enjoyed an immediate meteoric rise.
The company earned the No. 52 spot on the Inc. 5000 list of the country’s fastest growing businesses in 2018 with 5,000 percent growth and revenues of $5.2 million. Digital Hyve opened a Rochester office in 2016 and the firm remained on the Inc. 5000 the next four years (4,537 in 2022).
As entrepreneurs at heart, Knauss and Tanner sold the firm to Butler/Till to pursue other ventures, Knauss said at the time.
