What changes in the legal industry do you believe will have the biggest impact on clients over the next few years?
Advances in technology and the increasing availability of information will have a significant impact on how legal services are delivered. Clients increasingly expect faster communication, greater transparency, and more value for their legal spend. While technology can streamline many aspects of practice, trusts and estates work remains deeply personal. The attorneys who succeed will be those who combine efficiency and responsiveness with thoughtful counseling on the family, tax and legacy issues that require judgment, experience and a personal understanding of each client’s goals.
How do you balance legal expertise with client service and relationship-building?
Technical expertise is essential in trusts and estates law, but client service starts with making complicated issues understandable and practical. Clients are making decisions that can affect their families for generations, and they want an advisor they trust as much as an attorney who understands the law. I focus on listening first, understanding each client’s goals, and translating complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance. Strong relationships are built when clients feel informed, respected, and confident in the advice they receive.
What is one accomplishment — professional or personal — that you are especially proud of?
Individual cases and transactions are always rewarding, however I am most proud of the long-term relationships I have built with clients and their families over more than two decades of practice. There is no greater professional compliment than having clients return for guidance through multiple stages of life and recommend our services to their friends and family. Knowing that my work has helped families preserve assets, avoid conflict and achieve their goals is especially meaningful.
