L3Harris Technologies’ Rochester area operations have secured another major military communications order, with the company set to manufacture Next Generation Command and Control manpack Falcon systems for the U.S. Army under an $84 million purchase order.
The award continues a string of recent contracts supporting L3Harris’ Rochester-based production lines, which manufacture advanced tactical communications equipment for U.S. military customers.
“Our high-volume, Rochester-based production lines continue to deliver critical capability into the hands of our armed forces to meet the demands of their vital missions,” said Chris Aebli, president of L3Harris’ Mission Critical Communications business.

The latest order builds on the company’s expanding role in supplying secure communications technology to the nation’s military. L3Harris was selected by the Army last year to manufacture thousands of handheld, manpack and small form fit radios under a contract valued at $300 million. In 2023, the company received an additional contract worth $196 million to provide more than 4,000 radios.
The Rochester operations also are supporting a major Marine Corps communications effort. In 2022, L3Harris was selected to manufacture Falcon IV Multi-Channel Handheld radios under a contract valued at up to $750 million.
“L3Harris radios are leading in cutting-edge radio technology innovation and essential to providing our warfighters a key tactical advantage on the battlefield,” U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer said.
L3Harris employs more than 3,600 people in Monroe County and the surrounding region. The company’s Rochester campus has long been a hub for the design and production of secure communications systems used by military and government customers worldwide.
