National honor recognizes GRE leader’s impact on Greater Rochester’s growth
Listen to this articleMatt Hurlbutt, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Enterprise, has been named one of North America’s Top 50 Economic Developers by consulting firm Consultant Connect.
The annual recognition honors economic development professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation and measurable impact in their communities.
Recipients are nominated by peers across the economic development and site selection industries. Honorees will be recognized during ECONOMIX, a leading industry event scheduled for Nov. 10 in Grand Rapids.
The award reflects Hurlbutt’s role in advancing economic growth across the nine-county Greater Rochester region. During his tenure, Greater Rochester Enterprise has helped attract and support major investment projects, including those from fairlife, LLC, Edwards Vacuum and Toyota Material Handling North America.
Hurlbutt has been with Greater Rochester Enterprise for 18 years and has served as president and CEO for the past seven. Throughout his leadership, he has consistently highlighted the region’s highly educated workforce, strong business climate and innovation ecosystem as competitive advantages in attracting new investment.
The latest honor adds to a growing list of accolades for Hurlbutt. In 2025, he was recognized as Economic Developer of the Year by the New York State Economic Development Council.
