Where do you see the most untapped potential for development in the Rochester region?
A key development opportunity for the Rochester region is the continued expansion of affordable and supportive housing alongside mixed-use development to help meet growing demand. The adaptive reuse of underutilized commercial and historic properties can play a transformative role in creating developments that integrate housing, retail, transportation access and community resources — strengthening neighborhoods and supporting long-term economic investment across the region.
How do you approach decision-making when facing uncertainty on a project?
I approach uncertainty by staying focused on a project’s core drivers: client goals, cost management, schedule, execution and communication. While conditions on construction projects can shift quickly, it’s important to prioritize proactive planning and flexibility over reactive decision-making. That includes strategically phasing work, securing key materials early, building in adjustments as conditions evolve, and collaborating closely with stakeholders and trade partners to manage risk and keep projects moving.
Are there innovations you’ve adopted that have significantly improved efficiency or outcomes?
Achieving PHIUS certification on the Alta Vista at St. Joseph’s Park project gave our team valuable insight into integrating high-performance building standards into our construction approach. The rigorous certification process required close collaboration among owners, design teams, consultants and trade partners to meet ambitious performance goals. This level of coordination and project delivery has strengthened our capabilities and further positioned our company to deliver sustainable, high-efficiency developments that provide long-term value for both clients and the community.
