Greater Rochester Clean Cities recently hosted Daphne Dixon of Live Green Network and the Clean Transportation Coalition of Western Connecticut when she stopped in Victor earlier this month as part of the 3rd annual Coast-to-Coast EV Road Trip.
The trip is intended to increase awareness of electric vehicles and improve accessibility and the user experience of electric vehicle charging stations. It started in Norwalk, Connecticut, on July 26 and ended this week in Tacoma, Washington.
Dixon drove a 2024 Chevy Equinox for the 4,000-mile journey and performed site assessments at each charging station along the route. The site assessments evaluated factors such as shelter, lighting, safety and signage.
GRCC was able to assist Dixon with the charging station analysis at Victor Crossing, on one of the hottest days of summer which highlighted the importance of user amenities, leaders there said.
The assessment data will be shared with local Clean Cities and Communities Coalitions and can also be shared with local zoning officials who can use the information to update zoning laws with the goal of enhancing safety and overall user experience.
