Rochester Business Hall of Fame announces Class of 2023

Junior Achievement, the Rochester Business Journal and the Rochester Museum and Science Center announced that four business leaders will be inducted into the Rochester Business Hall of Fame in 2023, joining 142 others who previously have been honored for their contributions to Rochester.

The new inductees will be:

  • Susan R. Holliday, Former President, Publisher & Owner, Rochester Business Journal
  • Richard R. LeFrois, CEO, LeFrois Builders and Developers Inc., President, LeFrois Builders South, Inc.
  • Martin Mucci, Chairman of the Board, Paychex, Inc.
  • Arthur Wolcott, Founder and Chairman, Seneca Foods Corporation (posthumous award)

The 2023 Rochester Business Hall of Fame induction dinner will take place on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Holliday purchased the Rochester Business Journal in 1988 and served as President, Publisher and Owner until she sold the publication to BridgeTower Media in 2016.

LeFrois assumed leadership of LeFrois Builders and Developers Inc. from his father, Russell P. LeFrois, in 1972 and continues to serve as CEO.

Mucci served as CEO of Paychex from 2010 until he retired in 2022. He was named Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2021 and continues to serve in that role.

Wolcott was Chairman and President of Seneca Foods from 1949 to 1987. He served as Chairman of the Board of Directors until his death in 2021.

The Rochester Business Hall of Fame, launched in 2001, is presented by Junior Achievement of Central Upstate New York Inc.; Rochester Business Journal; and Rochester Museum and Science Center, which serves as host to an exhibit of Rochester’s noteworthy businesses and their accomplishments.

The Hall of Fame Committee, advised by an independent group that includes past inductees, selects each year’s honorees.
