In the Dec. 31, 2021 issue Allen Blair’s article “Green Transition necessary for climate, beneficial for economy” is flawed. There are many experts who agree that much of the man-made climate hysteria is dubious, such as Dr. Patrick Michael; Dr. W. Soon; Steven Hayward of UC at Berkeley; Dr. Leslie Woodcock, formerly of NASA; environmentalist Dr. James Lovelock; Greenpeace founder Dr. Patrick Moore; Brian Sussman (meteorologist); Joseph Bastardi (meteorologist); climatologist and former NASA scientist Dr. Roy Spencer; Dr. Tim Ball; and many others.
Dr. Michael and Dr. Soon, among others, debunked the climate change models that are used by the United Nations and numerous countries. These models reportedly have the same mathematical flaws which overstate the magnitude of man-made climate change. Over time the models have proved to be very inaccurate. Ironically, the most accurate climate change model was reportedly put together by the Russians, which has minimized man-made climate change. In the Paris Climate agreement China, India and Russia among others don’t have to adhere to the same standards as the United States.
The United States and New York State should maximize our great wealth in gas, oil and coal reserves by reducing burdensome regulations. This would unleash the economy in a phenomenal way. At the same time continue to develop hydro-power and nuclear because they are proven efficient energy sources. Solar and wind energy sources will fully develop in time. However, subsidies and tax credits should be removed from solar and wind energy sources because it’s a drain on our state and federal tax revenue. Their time will eventually come.
Man-made climate change is greatly exaggerated. About 14,000 years ago, Rochester was under a one-mile-high glacier. It melted without man being a factor. Reportedly, the surface temperatures of Mars have been increasing without man. The sun is one of the major factors in planet temperature and climate. In fact, there have been some recent observations that sun spots are causing substantial current disruptions in the world climate. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is not our enemy, but an ally in producing oxygen and making green plant life thrive through photosynthesis. CO2 is consumed by green plant life and the by-product is oxygen. A recent study showed that when green plants were given more carbon dioxide, their growth rate escalated rapidly. In summary, Mr. Blair’s basic climate change premise is wrong.
