I am so grateful to the employees of Ability Partners Inc. agencies including Happiness House, CP Rochester and Rochester Rehabilitation and all essential employees. I truly appreciate their unwavering efforts to ensure the care, health and safety of the 48 individuals living in our residences and hundreds more individuals living in the community during this unprecedented and ever-changing time in our world due to the spread of COVID-19.
Direct support professionals employed in our residential locations have been the ones who have “stepped up” to ensure that the most vulnerable individuals we serve receive the care and services they need 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Many of these staff are working countless hours each week during this most critical time. Additional support staff are engaging individuals in fun and motivating activities both inside their homes and safely outdoors.
Therapists and teachers in our educational programs including special education services are providing distance learning, therapy and weekly calls to our preschool student’s families. Our clinics are delivering speech, occupational, physical therapies and mental health services via Telehealth to community individuals who depend upon these services. Community habilitation is provided to individuals and their families who live in the community and rely upon these services. Over 1,000 individuals continue to receive all of these vital services during these challenging and stressful times and 56 individuals employed through our state and federal janitorial contracts continue to provide critically necessary cleaning services during this demanding time.
Non-direct support staff and volunteers have stepped up as well, delivering meals for those who work evenings, nights and weekends in our residential programs.
I am so fortunate to lead such great organizations that care so much for others, their families and the community as a whole.
Many thanks for the support and assistance of members of our boards of directors. Together, even in the most challenging of times, we will continue to make good things happen.
I look forward to healthier and brighter days for all.
