Golden Link Folk Singing Society Inc. presents guitarist and singer/songwriter Brooks Williams.
You’ll find Williams at the crossroads of blues and American roots music. Born in Statesboro, Ga., Williams now resides in the U.K. He developed his signature sound in the small bars and coffeehouses of New York City and Boston, his laid-back vocals floating over Resonator riffs, Piedmont picking and cigar box slide.
Ranked as one of the Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists, Williams writes groove-laden songs and delivers them with an easy-going vocal style and intense guitar chops. Williams has performed on stages worldwide for more than 25 years, amassing an impressive catalog of songs, recordings and tales. He now has over 20 records to his name.
Along with his guitar playing, Williams is also a great singer. In 2013, he was nominated best male vocalist by the U.K.’s foremost roots-music mavens, Spiral Earth. Over the years he’s played alongside artists like Taj Mahal, John Hammond, Paul Jones, Chris Smither, Little Feat and Maria Muldaur.
According to AmericanaUK, Williams “has a beautiful voice that you just melt into.”
Williams performs on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rochester Christian Reformed Church. goldenlink.org
