How do you balance legal expertise with client service and relationship-building?

Balancing legal expertise with strong client relationships starts with clear, thoughtful communication. Legal strategy is only effective if it supports a client’s specific business and personal goals. We focus on making sure clients understand not just what is happening in their case, but why each step matters, so they feel informed and confident throughout the process. Because many of our clients are business owners and executives, our approach combines careful legal preparation with efficient execution, allowing clients to protect what they have built while staying focused on their work and operations.

How important is community involvement or pro bono work within your organization?

Community involvement is central to our firm’s values. As an Air Force veteran, supporting local service members has always been deeply meaningful to me. I co-founded Honor Flight Rochester in 2008 and still serve as Chairman of the Board, helping lead a volunteer effort that has brought more than 4,800 veterans to Washington, D.C. Our firm also sponsors the Rochester Red Wings’ annual “Honor Our Military” game, which provides tickets to local veterans and benefits the Veterans Outreach Center. We also participate in the Adopt-a-Highway program, are proud members of Rochester Rotary, and long-time supporters of the Rochester Rotary Sunshine Camp. We believe in making a meaningful difference in the community we serve.

What is one accomplishment — professional or personal — that you are especially proud of?

One professional accomplishment I’m proud of is writing the Glennon Guide series on non-compete agreements, including “Am I Stuck In This Practice?” for healthcare providers and “Am I Stuck In This Job?” for executives and professionals. Non-compete law in New York has been a topic lately and has evolved, and making sense of it requires a careful understanding of a complicated area of employment law. I wanted to turn that complexity into something clear and practical for employees and people facing real career uncertainty. What means the most to me is being able to take a difficult legal issue and turn it into a tool that helps people protect their careers, businesses and future.
