What is one challenge currently facing the legal profession that deserves more attention?

There is a tension between embracing available AI tools to increase efficiency and maintaining the integrity of the legal services provided. Clients want answers faster and at a lower cost, but overreliance on technology that is still flawed can be catastrophic. Law firms have to strike the appropriate balance, taking advantage of technological advances yet continuing to do the necessary work to ensure they are generating the highest-quality work product.

How do you balance legal expertise with client service and relationship-building?

The most meaningful and successful relationships, personal and professional, are built on mutual trust — the belief that the person is honest and on your side. Clients pay attention to attorneys’ experience, results and track records, and those are undoubtedly important. But respecting an attorney’s professional profile is different from trusting that attorney with the fate of your case. Clients are best served when they receive not only high-quality legal representation but candid advice in difficult circumstances. Attorneys are also in the best position to develop effective strategies and assess situations if they can trust the information provided by the clients, so it is important that the trust is mutual.

What is one accomplishment — professional or personal — that you are especially proud of?

I am proud of continuing to grow in my career while tackling the life challenges that come with raising two girls with their own ambitions and goals. I am most grateful that, both at work and at home, I am surrounded by people I enjoy spending time with, who have my back, and from whom I can learn every day.
