What changes in the legal industry do you believe will have the biggest impact on clients over the next few years?

Obviously, generative AI and automation have brought change to the profession and the way we serve clients. Thus far it has been a very positive development for our lawyers and clients alike.

What is one challenge currently facing the legal profession that deserves more attention?

Attracting and retaining talent appears to be problematic for some firms. But by maintaining a great workplace culture, managing workloads, and providing a clear picture of professional advancement within the firm, we are successfully navigating this.

How do you balance legal expertise with client service and relationship-building?

Legal expertise is what the client wants above all. This is the foundation underlying what then becomes a longstanding, trusted advisor and strategic partner role.

How important is community involvement or pro bono work within your organization?

Very important. We talk about it during interviews with prospective lawyers looking to join our firm. We also count pro-bono billable hours toward the billable hours goals we set for any lawyer.

What is one accomplishment — professional or personal — that you are especially proud of?

Being a part of building an office over the last 18 years from five lawyers to 50-plus lawyers and 30 staff. A place where everyone feels supported, valued and a part of our success.
