How do you balance legal expertise with client service and relationship-building?
Clients must feel connected and heard to trust your legal expertise and want to follow your advice. Kindness and empathy are critical to laying the foundation to that relationship, working together successfully, and being someone they are eager to refer others to.
How important is community involvement or pro bono work within your organization?
We believe that most good deeds come back around. When you willingly and frequently help the community and provide free legal services, whether through a significant pro bono case or giving free advice to a potential client, you learn and grow as an attorney and ultimately reap the blessings of being generous to others.
What is one accomplishment — professional or personal — that you are especially proud of?
I am proud to be working part time and caring for our 2-year-old daughter at the same time. Motherhood is a whole new kind of job that no one trains you for! I’m grateful to my father and law partner, Steve Modica, for giving me the opportunity to do both.
