Galin Brooks is leaving the Rochester Downtown Development Corp. and returning to Washington, D.C., to pursue a new professional opportunity.
Brooks was named president and CEO of the RDDC in June 2022. Since joining the organization, she has helped spark renewed momentum for downtown by expanding RDDC programming, partnerships and visibility, as well as its role as a catalyst for revitalization in the heart of the city.
“Galin has helped strengthen RDDC’s role as a catalyst, connector and advocate for our city center,” Steve Dubnik, RDDC board chair and president and CEO of The Strong National Museum of Play, said in a news release. “Her work has helped create a solid foundation for the organization’s next chapter.”
Brooks moved to Rochester in 2022 from Washington, D.C., where she spearheaded planning, infrastructure and parks initiatives for business improvement districts.
“I am so thankful to have been part of the revitalization of downtown Rochester over the last four years,” Brooks said. “It has been an honor and privilege working with the board of RDDC, downtown community leaders, public sector partners, residents, businesses, aligned nonprofits and the many generous funding partners who have supported our work.
“The trajectory for downtown Rochester is up, and RDDC will continue to do great work to help realize its full potential.”
Former RDDC CEO Heidi Zimmer-Meyer will serve as interim president, effective June 1. She held the role for nearly two decades until retiring in 2022.
