RRH expands access to genetic health insights
Rochester Regional Health has launched GenoWell, a first-of-its-kind community health research program designed to empower individuals with knowledge about their genetic health risks.
In partnership with Helix, a company that specializes in population genomics and precision health, GenoWell offers no-cost DNA screening to help identify genetic risks for certain cancers and a type of heart disease that often goes undetected without genetic testing.
By uncovering these risks early, participants and their health care providers can move toward faster diagnoses and more personalized treatment plans, RRH leaders said.
Over the next five years, the program aims to enroll more than 100,000 adults across the region.
Participation is voluntary, confidential and free, with no insurance required. Results will provide insight into conditions such as inherited breast and ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, and high cholesterol.

Through GenoWell, Rochester Regional joins other health systems across North America that are part of the Helix Research Network.
The collaboration is designed to accelerate the integration of genetic information into everyday clinical care and expand opportunities to bring novel clinical trials and research to local communities.
