A former used car dealership facility on West Ridge Road has been sold to an out-of-state entity that intends to convert the property into a cannabis dispensary.
1040 Ridge LLC, headquartered in Monroe, Michigan, bought the properties at 1040 and 1044 West Ridge Road in the city of Rochester for $1.435 million.
The Michigan address of the buyer is home to a King of Budz, a cannabis retailer that has six other locations in Michigan and one in New York. King of Budz opened in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga in late summer.
“Our goal as a company is to become the kings of Western New York,” CEO Justin Ratledge said Tuesday afternoon.
Ratledge said design plans are finished but the company must go through the permitting process with the city. The goal is to be open in the first quarter of 2026, he said.
GMA Family, LLC and 1120 Realty, LLC sold the West Ridge Road properties, with member Mark Palumbo signing over the deeds, according to documents filed with the Monroe County Clerk’s Office.
The building had been the site of Highline Motor Car, Inc., which is no longer in business.
