President and Chief Operating Officer, Rochester General Hospital
Years in current role: 3
What emerging trends or technologies do you think will have the biggest impact on health care in the next 12 months?
Given the ongoing staffing challenges across the industry, I believe workforce and workflow redesign will be one of the most impactful trends in health care over the next 12 months. This includes leveraging technologies like AI-driven tools and virtual care platforms, cross-training clinical staff to work more flexibly across roles, and building adaptable labor models to better meet patient demand and operational needs.
What skills or qualities do you think are essential for the next generation of health care leaders?
With the pace of change in health care accelerating, agility and adaptability will be essential qualities for the next generation of leaders. As technology continues to be a key driver of transformation, strong digital literacy will also be critical — enabling leaders to evaluate, adopt and integrate innovative tools into care delivery and operations.
How do you stay motivated and inspired in such a demanding and evolving field?
What keeps me motivated is seeing the real, tangible impact our work has on the community. That sense of purpose drives me to keep pushing forward and embracing change. I stay inspired by staying close to the work — whether it’s rounding on patients or engaging with the front-line team members who care for them every day. Their dedication and resilience are a constant reminder of why this work matters.
