Planned Parenthood of Central and Western New York marked the official opening of its second Rochester-area health center with a ribbon cutting this week.
The new clinic, located on South Clinton Avenue in Brighton, offers expanded capacity to serve the community with reproductive care, STI treatments, cancer screenings and more. It began operations with a soft launch in January and is now fully operational.
The Brighton facility joins Planned Parenthood‘s existing Rochester health center on University Avenue. The project was supported by $200,000 in state capital funding.
“As much of our nation moves backwards when it comes to protecting reproductive healthcare, it’s time for New York to take the lead,” state Sen. Jeremy Cooney said.
He continued, “Today’s ribbon cutting is testament to the role New York will play in safeguarding the right to choose, but it’s also a reminder that it is going to take continued support and resources from all corners of our community to protect healthcare workers, ensure everyone has the autonomy to make decisions concerning their own body, and fight back against the regressive policies taking place nationwide.”
