Former Lyell Road home of race car manufacturer sells for $1M

4555 Lyell LLC paid $1,015,000 for the light manufacturing property at 4555 Lyell Road in Gates, according to documents filed Friday with the Monroe County Clerk’s Office.
William H. Colton III was the seller of the 2.7-acre parcel, which was built in 1980 and includes office and manufacturing/warehouse space, according to the listing on LoopNet.com.
The 14,000-square-foot facility had been home to Troyer Race Cars, and before that Troyer Engineering, a race car manufacturer founded by former NASCAR and Rochester-area motor sports legend Maynard Troyer.
Troyer Dirt Cars is now headquartered on Turner Drive in Spencerport.
