Regional Distributors, Inc., which grew from a one-truck, one-driver business into a multimillion-dollar operation, has been sold to a New Jersey-based company.

Imperial Dade, headquartered in Jersey City, N.J., has completed the purchase of Rochester-based Regional Distributors. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Regional Distributors was founded in 1994 by Tracy Scalen and her husband, David. The company distributes a variety of products, including paper, packaging and janitorial supplies, and also provides ware-washing and laundry services.

The company earned a spot on the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce Top 100 list for six consecutive years between 2017 and 2022.

“The legacy which has been built by the loyal and dedicated employees at Regional Distributors will provide a great foundation for continued growth,” the Scalens said in a news release.

This is the 88th acquisition — and 12th this year — by Imperial Dade since Robert and Jason Tillis took over operations in 2007.

“Regional Distributors and Imperial Dade share the same family culture and customer- and associate-centric focus, which makes it a great addition to the Imperial Dade platform,” chairman Robert Tillis said.
