Lewis Tree Service Inc. has acquired Massachusetts-based Northern Tree Service Inc.
The Rochester-based Lewisâ€”which has more than 1,250 employeesâ€”will retain most of the 73 Northern staffers at vegetation management operations in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
â€œOur customer demand in New England has been strong and acquiring the assets, including most of the employees, of a highly respected competitor will improve our ability to meet that demand,â€ said Richard Alt, president of Lewis.
M&T Bank provided financing for the deal. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Lewis mainly works with utilities and governments in the eastern United States.
