–1922: George Eastman tries to buy the company and donate it to the city.
–1944: Issues first common stock offering.
–1965: Becomes the first major metro area in the nation entirely equipped with modern digital equipment.
–1974: Rochester Tel purchases its first subsidiary in Upstate New York, beginning a series of acquisitions that would add 32 new local-exchange companies in 12 states.
–1978: Establishes Rotelcom, now known as Frontier Network Services.
–1983: Company begins offering long-distance service.
–1985: Company begins cellular service.
–1987: Becomes Rochester Telephone Corp.
–1991-1994: Four long-distance companies acquired.
–1993: Files open market plan.
–1995: Open market plan receives approval; company renamed Frontier Corp.
–1996: Acquires six telecommunications providers and merges with ALC Communications Corp., making it the fifth-largest long-distance company.
–1998: Acquires Frontier GlobalCenter to launch its new data focus.
–March 17, 1999: Announces deal to be acquired by Global Crossing Ltd.
