Xerox Corp. vice president Mary Quin was released Tuesday after being taken captive while visiting Yemen on vacation. Quin, 44, a nominee for the Athena Award and general manager of Xerox’s external business unit of the Office Document Products Group in Rochester, was traveling with a tour group when she was captured on Monday. The kidnappers ambushed a convoy of five vehicles near a town about 175 miles south of the capital, capturing one other American, 12 Britons and two Australians. They warned police to back off or they would kill the tourists. During a standoff between the kidnappers and Yemeni troops on Tuesday, four of the tourists were killed. The rest were freed, and two had to be hospitalized. Quin spoke to a Xerox security officer from a hotel on Tuesday, saying she was shaken but unharmed.
