The Arts & Cultural Council for Greater Rochester announces the recipients of the 12th Annual Arts Awards. The recipients are Garth Fagan Dance, cultural organization; Stuart Bolger, individual; Wegmans Food Markets Inc., business; Kenneth Grant, artist; and Sheldon Fisher, special citation.
The National Association of Women in Construction announces the election of their officers for 1995-1996. The new officers are: president Lynn Hamilton, J.G. Turner Inc.; vice president Patricia Hynes, Hynes Concrete Contractor Inc.; treasurer Connie Oriel, Builders Exchange of Rochester N.Y. Inc.; recording secretary Judith Mincher, University of Rochester; corresponding secretary Cari Durban, New York State Department of Transportation; and immediate past president Mary Wagner, Fallone Homes Inc. Kodak Imaging Services Inc. recently earned quality awards for its on-site customer service from Baxter Healthcare, Pacific Bell and Eastman Chemical Co.

Thomas Clark and Bernard Hoerbelt, faculty members at Genesee Community College, have been certified as Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Development instructors. Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for junior and community college students.
Mary Platt, professor of psychology at Genesee Community College, has been named to the Nicholas J. Goergen Teaching Excellence Chair for the 1995-1996 academic year. The Teaching Excellence Chair was established by the board of trustees last year to recognize faculty members who have distinguished themselves with exceptional classroom performance.
The newly renovated cardiac catheterization lab at Park Ridge Hospital will be named the Gerald Francis Ryan M.D. Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory in recognition of the cardiologist who launched the program in 1975.
The Rochester chapter of the CPCU Society (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters) has announced its officers for the 1995-96 year. President is Michael Kress, president-elect is Jeffrey Sullivan, vice president is Estella Ann Sconfitto, treasurer is Terry Potts and secretary is Gail Dowd.
Cephas Attica Inc. has been notified by the Action Institute that it is one of 10 finalists for the Samaritan Award. The purpose of the award is to recognize the nation’s most compassionate and effective human services agencies. Winners will be announced in mid-December.

The annual educational meeting for sophisticated financial planners focused on investment strategy and the role of real estate in today’s marketplace.

Wanda Miller, co-anchor of WROC-TV’s 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. newscasts, was honored today as the first recipient of the 1995 Portrait of Women Award. The award, created by Impressive Images, is presented to a person who has, by his or her distinctive service and personal leadership, contributed to the development of individuals in the community. Impressive Images is an ethnically diverse organization of women committed to involvement in community issues that improve the quality of lives in Rochester.

Leo Thomas, executive vice president of Eastman Kodak Co., was recognized by the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers with a presidential proclamation, which recognizes individuals of established and outstanding status and reputation in the motion picture and television industries worldwide. SMPTE also presented honors and awards to the following area individuals: Roland Zavada, retired, Kodak, received honorary membership; Arthur Cosgrove, HDTV project leader, Kodak, received the Agfa-Gevaert Gold Medal Award; and Frederick Kolb Jr., retired, Kodak, received the Technicolor/Herbert T. Kalmus Gold Medal. Honorees were recognized at a Sept. 6 reception in New Orleans.
