President, SUNY Geneseo
Years in current role: 1
What decision or strategic shift in 2025 had the greatest impact on your business?
Our most impactful 2025 strategic shift was strengthening SUNY Geneseo’s identity as the state’s public liberal arts honors college. We streamlined transfer pathways, increased need-based aid, and launched new high impact programs aligned with workforce needs. This clarity of mission—excellence with opportunity—accelerated enrollment growth, deepened employer partnerships, and reinforced Geneseo’s role as an engine of talent for the Finger Lakes region and Western New York.
What regional strengths do you believe position Rochester well for future growth?
I was drawn to the significant opportunities in the Rochester region such as optics, photonics, advanced manufacturing, health care and education. Combined with an exceptional quality of life, these make the region primed for continued growth. Its affordability, strong schools and rich arts and recreation options make it an ideal place to live. These assets, combined with a collaborative regional spirit, not only position Rochester to thrive, but inform how SUNY Geneseo prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to the vitality and continued progress of the region.
What’s one interest or activity you hope to make more time for in the coming year?
As someone new to New York and the Finger Lakes region, I’m eager to make more time for exploring the incredible outdoors with my family. We love staying active—hiking, biking, skiing and enjoying any kind of recreation—and this area offers endless opportunities to do that together. I also hope to take fuller advantage of the region’s vibrant arts and cultural scene, from performances to local festivals. Making space for these experiences and building relationships will help me deepen connections and stay energized for the important work ahead.
