The Company Theatre has launched its largest ever capital campaign to help bring a theater space downtown back to life.

The two-year, $100,000 campaign will go toward accessibility, infrastructure and technological upgrades.
The theater, which was once the Blackfriars Theatre and is located on the second floor of a building at 28 Lawn St., part of the Christ Church campus, has been unused for nearly two decades.
“While others may have seen limitations, we saw potential,” said Carl Del Buono, founding artistic director of The Company Theatre. “It’s an honor to make the effort to bring it back to life.”
Since its beginnings, the organization has focused on providing an accessible theater experience for its patrons, Del Buono added.
The Company has named their fundraiser “Elevating The Experience” – a pun on one of the main goals of the campaign: to install an accessible lift to the second floor.
In addition to the lift, other improvements to be made to the theater space include sound, lighting, rigging and other technical upgrades, as well as renovations to the lobby and spaces in the auditorium.
Through the campaign, The Company also is establishing “The Company Fellowship Fund,” an endowment to compensate actors and creatives who work at the theater.
