Rochester nonprofit awarded state funding to launch peer-led youth program

A Rochester-based has been awarded $1.25 million in state funds for a program that supports local youth.  

will receive $250,000 annually over five years to establish a Youth Safe Space at the  in Newark, .  It was one of four organizations statewide to receive funding for the program. 

Administered by the , Youth Sace Spaces are peer-led, non-clinical programs that support youth ages 12 to 24 by providing safe, welcoming environments where they can connect with peers, build resilience and access culturally responsive resources. 

“We are truly honored to be selected to launch this important initiative in our community,” said Jennifer Cathy, president and CEO of Delphi Rise. “Together with the Alex Eligh Community Center and our dedicated partners across Wayne County, we are excited to create a safe, peer-led space where young people will find hope, connection and the support they need to thrive.” 

The initiative reflects Delphi Rise’s longstanding presence in Wayne County and the partnerships built with schools, providers and community organizations, she noted, adding the collaborations laid the groundwork for the award and will be essential to Youth Safe Space’s success.
