Partnership boosts health equity funding to $2.1M across Greater Rochester region

The and have partnered to expand funding for organizations working to advance across the region. 

Through this collaboration, an additional $440,035 has been awarded to grassroots and nonprofit groups, bringing the total investment in health equity resources to $2.1 million. 

The funding is part of the Health Foundation’s Responsive Grantmaking initiative, Call for Ideas, which supports community-driven solutions that address the root causes of health inequities while emphasizing trust, equity and community-led change. 

In all, 32 organizations across a nine-county service area—Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Seneca, Wayne, Wyoming and Yates—have received support. 

The foundations prioritized projects that address , basic human needs and , with an emphasis on serving LGBTQIA+ individuals, immigrant and migrant communities, veterans and people with disabilities. 

“We are grateful to Rochester Area Community Foundation for partnering with us in this effort,” said Matthew Kuhlenbeck, president and CEO of Greater Rochester Health Foundation. “Their investment reflects a shared commitment to health equity, helping to ensure that more community-rooted organizations across our region receive the support they need to continue their vital work.” 

Added Simeon Banister, president and CEO of Rochester Area Community Foundation: “This partnership leverages the combined expertise of the Community Foundation and the Health Foundation to deliver lasting impact for our community.” 

Since its launch in 2020, the Call for Ideas initiative has awarded more than $17 million in grants.
