What skills do you think are most crucial for new attorneys entering the field today?
I believe that strong communication and organizational skills are crucial. The nature and pace of practicing law has changed immensely requiring quicker responsiveness with a much higher expectation of fast results. Being able to effectively and clearly communicate both to clients and other members of a firm and developing a good workflow system will be the key to managing a solid practice.
What’s one misconception people often have about your area of law?
I think a common misconception is that trusts and estates work is easy or mundane. I have worked in this area for nearly 30 years and can honestly say that I’ve never been bored! Plus, this work is more involved than most people believe.
How does the Rochester community influence your work or professional philosophy?
There is a great deal of civility and cordiality within the Rochester community which makes practicing law here so enjoyable.
