What is one legal issue or trend you’re keeping a close eye on this year?

The scope of authority of local municipalities to regulate the location and development of certain types of renewal energy projects within their jurisdictions.

What skills do you think are most crucial for new attorneys entering the field today?

Effective communication and advocacy skills are crucial for attorneys regardless of the area of practice. Whether it is drafting a letter, memorandum of law, or real estate instrument, arguing a matter before a judge or municipal board, or simply debating the merits of an issue with a colleague or opposing counsel, the ability to communicate clearly is an important skill in the legal profession.

How does the Rochester community influence your work or professional philosophy?

I have practiced in the Rochester region my entire career, and the collegiality and professionalism of our legal community has greatly influenced my work and philosophy. I have worked alongside many exceptional attorneys who have taught me the importance of teamwork, attention to detail and communication.
