Tickets are now on sale for Rochester Speakers Series‘ inaugural 2025-26 series, Speaking of Stories, which features best-selling authors David Grann and Brit Bennett.
The annual flagship series features writers whose work is central to today’s cultural and literary conversation.
Guests will provide insight into their creative processes and the inspirations behind their work, among a variety of other topics.
Events will be held at Asbury First United Methodist Church on East Avenue in Rochester.
The organization’s mission is to connect diverse communities, engage audiences through thought-provoking speakers who reflect Rochester’s rich cultural heritage and inspire creativity and an appreciation for the literary arts in Rochester.
Nancy Klotz, the organization’s co-founder, said the in-person speaker series featuring nationally recognized and diverse writers, artists and influential voices, fills a cultural gap in the community.
Grann is the scheduled speaker on Oct. 7. A New York Times bestselling author and award-winning staff writer at The New Yorker magazine, he will discuss how he brings true tales to life in the context of his books Killers of the “Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI,” which documented one of the most sinister crimes and racial injustices in American history and “The Wager,” a story of shipwreck, survival and savagery.
Bennett is the scheduled speaker on April 21, 2026. She is the New York Times bestselling author of “The Mothers” and “The Vanishing Half”. Her essays have been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review and Jezebel.
